Farahan
Sarouk is the refined version of the elegant Sarouk design, which was updated in
the central Persian city of Farahan in the 19th Century with finer wool, smaller
knots and a denser weave.
The Farahan Sarouk combined the free spirit of
the tribal motifs of Sarouk design with the majestic geometry of the finest
Persian royal carpets of Esfahan. The result was a rug which was regal and fun,
at the same time.
Reproducing this magnificent design, SAFAVIEH worked with Indian master
weavers to make the weave even denser. We also made the design simpler, flowing
and more pleasing to the modern eye. We updated the colors, replacing the
traditional red and navy palette with lighter shades, such as rust, apricot and
silver, and in some cases, we replaced the traditional medallion with a less
formal overall design.
