RAVAR
(LAVAR) is a small town 120 miles from KERMAN. The western trade designation 'LAVAR'
is an incorrect form of the name RAVAR, the weaving center situated in the
southeast of IRAN.
RAVAR (LAVAR) has long been the origin of some of the finest Persian rugs. The
historical explanation appears to be that, during the wars of the late 19th
century, much of KERMAN was destroyed, and a large part of the population (among
them many carpet weavers) fled to RAVAR (LAVAR).
RAVAR (LAVAR) rugs usually have extremely detailed designs executed with high
craftsmanship and made to last a lifetime
