This is a finely knotted elegant 9.9x13.2 Antique Persian
Lavar (Ravar) Kerman , hand
woven in the 1930s This rug is in excellent condition (for its age). There are
no stains, no holes or tears, and all the edges are original. The rug is very
clean and with normal
care this rug will last another 50 years. The wool is very soft and the colors
are absolutely gorgeous. A great rug for a dinning Room, family room, or a

RAVAR
(LAVAR) is a small town 120 miles from KERMAN. The western trade
designation 'LAVAR' is an incorrect form of the name RAVAR, the weaving
center situated in the southeast of Persia
RAVAR (LAVAR) has long been the origin of some of the finest Persian rugs.
The historical explanation appears to be that, during the wars of the late
19th century, much of KERMAN was destroyed, and a large part of the
population (among them many carpet weavers) fled to RAVAR (LAVAR).
RAVAR (LAVAR) rugs usually have extremely detailed designs executed with
high craftsmanship and made to last a lifetime.
